Know your nut/seed butters! ?
.

High quality nut/seed butters are super tasty, nutritious, & make for an easy addition to meals, so I outlined some of the key benefits of four different kinds for you.?Reminder though to always check the ingredient label of your nut butter because some brands like to add oils, sugar or even high fructose corn syrup. I always try to opt for nut butters that contain just the nut on the ingredient label or nuts & salt. .
Sunflower butter- Sunflower butter is especially high in vitamin E and selenium. It is also the most allergy-friendly out of the bunch since it’s a seed butter, not a nut. Sunflower butter is also packed with antioxidants including phenolic acids and flavonoids as well as magnesium, protein, & linoleic fatty acids that may help lower blood pressure, cholesterol & blood sugar. .
Cashew butter – While it’s very low in fiber, it has lots of beneficial vitamins and minerals like vitamins E, K, and B-6, potassium, & folate. Cashews also have very high levels of lutein & zeaxanthin, which are antioxidants known to help protect the eyes.?
.
Peanut Butter- Peanut butter has the highest amount of protein of the nut butters & even more so if you opt for chunky. ?Although it contains the word “nut”, it is technically a legume not a nut. It also has high amounts of monounsaturated fat, which has been linked to a reduction in heart disease & better blood sugar control. PB also contains vitamins & minerals like vitamin E, calcium, iron, potassium, biotin, magnesium, & zinc. PB also contains more B vitamins than almonds.
.
Almond Butter- Almond butter has more minerals than peanut butter, with the exception of selenium. It also has the highest amount of fiber of the four & contains nearly 3X as much vitamin E, 7X more calcium, and 2X the amount of iron that peanut butter has. Almond butter is also packed with minerals like potassium, zinc, biotin, & magnesium & is high in monounsaturated fat, which has been linked to improved blood sugar control.
.
All of these nut butters are delicious & nutritious for different reasons!?

What’s your favourite?
