5 WAYS TO OPTIMISE YOUR PROTEIN INTAKE
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Optimising you’re protein intake is far more important than simply eating more protein. In fact, eating too much protein can have negative effects on your gut microbes, your kidneys and protein eaten in excess of your what you need will be converted to and stored as fat.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s a few of the good things that happen when you optimise your protein intake:
• Choose lean meats and cut the fat off before cooking means you’ll get significantly less calories without reducing your portion size.
• Avoiding deli meats and reducing your intake of red meat to <350g per week will reduce your risk of heart disease. • Including at least 2 plant based protein meals per week is good for your heart and the environment. • Distributing protein across the day leaves your more satisfied because protein is the macronutrient most effective at keeping us full. This also optimises protein synthesis (and therefore building or preservation of lean mass) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have you changed how you eat protein? And what happened?
