I used to put food into 2 camps: good & bad food. I felt like in order to be healthy & to try & shrink my body as much as possible, anything that wasn’t “clean” was off limits.

❌All of that is untrue.❌
.
I wish I could go back & give old Colleen a big ol’ hug. Here is what I’d say?
.
? All food is good food. Some will nourish our bodies more, yes, but some our souls. But we need a&nd deserve both for a full, healthy, happy life.
.
? Your “clean eating” efforts are about to backfire… big time. You’ll wind up in a cycle of secretive binge eating, purging, & then back to restricting. The weight of this secret will take a mental & physical toll.
.
? Your body size doesn’t determine your health, your kindness, your compassion, your worth, your ability to be loved or anything that you think it does. Your body truly can regulate it’s intake of food- overall w/ & types of foods- if you develop a solid relationship of trust & communication with it.
.
? You’re going to regret missing out on making memories & experiencing the joy of life… all because you don’t trust yourself around the ice cream from the shoppe, the birthday cake, the Christmas cookies, etc. etc.
.
❤️ Finally, you’re going to overcome all of this. Your future self is going to have fruit loops in her pantry that she shares with her husband (FYI ➡️ It’s going to be Joe, that kid you had a crush on in 6th grade. ?‍♀️weird.) & a whole ton of chocolate chips because you love to bake cookies ? filled w/ love. You’re going to find “balance” through having no food rules & you’ll make a career of helping others do the same.

I know it’s hard to imagine finding “balance” in this diet culture filled world but you can. ❤️ and you will. ❤️
