Low fat diets.
- You won’t ge…

And here’s WHY I would recommend against them.

Low fat diets.
- You won’t get enough essential fatty acids or fat soluble vitamins.
- Good fats are protective against many diseases.
- Fat can help with satiety by slowing down digestion.
- Many low fat foods are highly processed and nutrient poor which can lead to spikes in blood sugar without much nutrition.

The Alkaline diet.
In this diet, people are supposed to stay away from acidic foods, including meat, poultry, fish, dairy, eggs, grains, processed food, and alcohol. The claim is that alkaline foods will make the body alkaline, and that cancer cells and fat do not thrive in an alkaline environment. It makes no sense our bodies naturally regulate our blood pH levels, and certain foods do not change this. I’m all for extra fruit, vegetables and wholegrains however eliminating wholefood groups (protein and dairy) is a bad idea.

The ketogenic diet.
- It is extremely difficult to stick to long term
- It can lead to overconsumption of the wrong type of fats which can increase your risk of chronic disease.
- Getting enough key nutrients such as fibre, B vitamins is very difficult.

Detox diets
They’re just bad. Avoid at all costs.

Apple cider vinegar diet.
In this diet, people are supposed to add cayenne pepper and honey to a glass of apple cider vinegar, and drink a glass before each meal.
- This can cause issues for people that have irritable bowel syndrome or gastroesophageal reflux disease because of the spices and acidity.
- It irritates the oesophagus and stomach lining.
- It can strip enamel off of your teeth if it is not diluted.
It does have some good properties but stick with including it in your salad dressing.

Whole30
This diet recommends excluding grains, legumes and dairy which will devoid you of loads of important nutrients and fibre. Any diet that recommends excluding whole food groups is not only completely unnecessary but can also be risky to your health.
