FOODS RICH IN ELECTROLYTES
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Question from @matsoviedo ?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Electrolytes include dietary ‘minerals’ sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium and phosphate. They are needed for MANY functions but some of the main ones are fluid balance, blood pressure control, nerve and muscle function and blood pH.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Since electrolytes are mostly obtained from soil by plants- fruits and vegetables are the best ways to get in plenty of electrolytes. But animals EATING plant matter also means heir flesh or milk produced is rich in electrolytes. Eat a variety of foods and you’ll have no issues getting the electrolytes you need!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Sodium is found in loads of unprocessed and processed foods. The main issue with sodium is getting too much instead of not getting enough! • Potassium is rich in foods such as milk, nuts, potatoes, bananas, avocado, soy beans and bran.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Phosphate is found in good amounts in dairy, pork, chicken, red meat, fish, nuts and seeds, soy products.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Calcium sources include dairy or fortified dairy alternatives, leafy greens, soy products, nuts and seeds, fish with bones, beans and lentils.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Magnesium is rich in foods such as figs, avocado, banana, nuts and seeds, legumes, seafood and a huge range of vegetables (especially green leafy)!
