So you ate emotionally… Now what?! ???
.
After you stress ate the girl scout cookies here is what NOT to do:
.
❌ stress the eff out even more (this can also worsen your digestion!)
❌ pretend that it never happened
❌ restrict what you eat after
❌ overexercise to burn it off
.
What TO DO:
.
✅ think about why it happened, not in a shameful way, but so that you can learn from it
✅ think about the outcome: did it help your stress? Or was it a momentary distraction that ultimately left you with a tummy ache to deal with in addition to the stress?
✅ take note of all of this and pocket the learning experience that you’ve had
✅ brainstorm ways that you might handle the situation differently next time
.
Emotional eating is NOT bad, FYI! ?♀️ Heck, last night I ate some ice cream for a little pick me up after a long day! Did I expect that ice cream to solve my long, stressful day? Nope.?♀️ Would eating past fullness help? Nope. ❌Can the ice cream give me a little mood boost while I enjoy it mindfully without guilt? YEP. ?
.
While I don’t want you to ruminate on your less than fabulous emotional eating experience it IS important to learn from it and not sweep it under the rug and avoid thinking about it. Learn from it and move on, this is what I teach members of @the_socieaty how to do (and something most people DON’T do!)
