There are many ways to achieve weight loss and you need to choose the approach that is right for you [go to the link in my bio if you want to read about the approach I take].

However, regardless of the approach, these 4 principles remain true.

1. You need to burn more calories than you consume. Regardless of which macronutrient the calories come from.

2. The approximate calcs are that 500 cals = 1/2 a kg of weight. This could be made up from less calories consumed or more energy burned.

3. It must be sustainable long term. I cannot stress this enough. The yo-yo effect of going on and off particular diets will likely have a yo-yo effect on your weight and probably also mess with your metabolism.

4. Your ‘set point’ is important. Genetics play a big role in how much we weigh. Understanding your approx ‘set point’ and getting comfortable with it is important.
