I love working out ❤️ I do. I’m that person who gets up at 4:38am and heads to the gym. This past week I skipped a couple days and guess what?…. It’s FINE! No stress. No “cutting back” on food. ?‍♀️
.
Years ago though? This wasn’t the case. I felt like if I skipped a workout… Holy goodness! Watch out world! I was an anxious mess and obsessed over making suuuuuper sure my calorie intake was lower than usual. OHF! All of that stress and anxiety? Not healthy!
.
How did I transform my relationship with exercise to go from using it as punishment to genuinely enjoying it? Taking a break from it. Or a “vacation”. If you feel stressed over not working out then you need to intentionally NOT workout more. It’s exposure therapy. We talk about this in @the_socieaty the same way we do breaking food rules!
.
Once you no longer feel guilty or stressed resting then you can re-incorporate exercise with a new “why” for doing it- finding joyful movement!
.
Exercise IS important, there is no denying that. But ya gotta develop a healthy relationship with it for it to BE healthy!
.
Most of the time our fear of skipping a workout ties back to our negative body image. So I’ll link my blog post on how to overcome that in my bio for you to read! ❤️
