Which would you pick today?! ? or ?

Someone recently asked me: “What makes a food “healthy”? And it got me thinking so let’s unpack that.
.
Society has a skewed perception of “health”. We know this. It’s so focused on the physical health of the body that it’s gotten detrimental. ?For example, things like monitoring your food intake cause increased stress & cortisol which… ❌aren’t so great for the bod!❌
.
Typically what deems a food “healthy” is the amount of nutrients it has in it (nutrient density) but it’s also rooted in consumerism like ➡️“how can we make someone think they neeeeed this and allow us to mark up the price?”… the answer they’ve come to is “slap the word “healthy” on it.?

Both a donut ?and an apple ? are “healthy”. You can’t determine health from a single item. It’s about your overall intake. I’m not saying we can’t be eating in a non-health promoting way. ?You absolutely can be. ?But what I’m saying is that health isn’t determined from a single food. Nor is being UNHEALTHY determined from a single food.

So how do you find this “balance”? ?Well, friends, intuitive eating. Despite the pictures you see of cookies plastered all over the hashtag, intuitive eating has been shown to lead to a more nutrient- varied diet, less binge eating, stable weights, lower levels of lipids in the blood and improved heart health, improved body image and elevated self esteem. ✨And that’s just to name a few.?
