The difference between sugar with some coffee, and coffee with some flavor! (Swipe to see some healthier coffee options)
Now there’s nothing wrong with treating yourself to these drinks on occasion, but consuming them regularly can really add up.
It’s important to be aware of how much sugar you’re consuming each day. While it’s totally okay to have some days with a higher sugar intake than others, your overall consumption plays a crucial role in your health.
Added sugars like those in most Starbucks coffee drinks can become highly addicting, leading your body to crave more. That’s why I recommend going for coffee with some flavor like honey, stevia, cacao, etc. on a more regular basis. Plus, they’re straight up delicious!
Here are the details of each healthier coffee choice:
What you need for the Honey Almond Milk Cold Brew:
-8-10 oz brewed coffee, cooled
-¼ cup unsweetened almond milk
-1 tsp raw honey
-stevia to taste (or honey or maple syrup)
What you need for the Homemade Java Chip Frappuccino:
-8-10 oz brewed coffee, cooled
-½ cup unsweetened almond milk
-1 tbsp cacao powder
-1 tbsp chocolate chips
-2-3 cups ice
-stevia to taste
Starbucks Cold Brew with milk of choice
What you need for the Homemade Vanilla Latte:
-8-10 oz brewed coffee, cooled
-1 cup unsweetened almond milk
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-stevia to taste
What you need for the Chocolate Almond Espresso:
-1 cup unsweetened almond milk
-1 packet of instant espresso powder or brewed espresso
-1 tbsp cacao powder or cocoa powder
-Stevia to taste
What to do:
1- In a blender, combine cooled coffee along with other ingredients
2- Pour the drink into a tall cup along with ice (unless making the java chip) and enjoy!
Which would you go for?!
