“How do I accept the pandemic weight I put on? I’m trying to be compassionate to…

“How do I accept the pandemic weight I put on? I’m trying to be compassionate toward myself but my jeans are tighter than before & I’m feeling bad about myself”

This is the MOST COMMON concern shared when I asked in my stories what you’re struggling with right now.

You are not alone. SO many people have put on weight as a result of the past stressful months. Myself included.

Are we really surprised?

It is NORMAL for weight to change in times of stress. Stress can cause hormonal changes that impact our appetite & disrupt the order we have in our life – goodbye sleep & exercise (which are essential to make conscious food choices),
& a whole cascade of things that can result in weight gain.

So congrats, if you put on weight during this incredibly stressful & traumatic time – you. are. normal!

And if all the diet ads on losing the ‘quarantine 15’ FAST are making you forget – you don’t need fixing, you are living through a GLOBAL PANDEMIC!

I understand that you may intellectually know this but you still feel bad about it. So?

1. if your clothes are not fitting comfortably – get new clothes ASAP. Honor our body where it is at right now regardless of what size it will be later. You deserve to feel good NOW. I recently bought myself 2 new dresses, both of which are a bigger size than usual because that’s what fits my body comfortably these days. I refuse to let a clothing label determine my worth – because it doesn’t! Clothes are meant to fit your body, not the other way around. ⠀

2. ask yourself when you wake up: What will make my body FEEL GOOD & what do I need to do to make that happen? ⠀

Focus on each day as it comes with this intention so you can realign yourself with your body’s needs & have a sense of order in your life (it’s exactly why I went off IG this past month, so I can start to FEEL GOOD again! It does wonders!)
