Who LOVES sushi? ??♀️
But did you know, sushi isn’t exactly one of those taboo foods you can’t eat during pregnancy!
As long as you are eating certain cooked and/or veggie sushi from a reputable place, you’re fine!
Sushi has been labeled UNSAFE during pregnancy because of the risk of food borne illness-and this carries a greater risk when you are consuming foods that are not cooked or undercooked.
Food poisoning can be pretty dangerous during pregnancy, coming with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea which can lead to dehydration (and we all know that dehydration is not good during pregnancy!)
Another risk is the risk of mercury exposure, and some fish have higher mercury levels than others- particularly: swordfish, king mackerel, marin, orange roughy, and tilefish.
So, it’s recommended that you avoid sushi with these types of fish as well!
