This nutrition insight stilllllll amazes me after all this time, a red bell pepper contains 3 times more vitamin C than an orange (which is known for its vitamin C content) 🤯🍊 Ps. let’s take a moment and appreciate how beautiful nature is 🌿
____
Average adults need 110 mg vitamin C per day and because our bodies can’t make vitamin C itself, we need to get it from the foods we eat. So if we have a balanced and diversified diet, we really don’t need to worry about the fact if we have enough intake of vitamin C. Besides that, it’s a watersoluble vitamin which means it isn’t stored by the body and if we eat more than our bodies need, it get’s lost with urine 💦

Another fun fact is that vitamin C isn’t heat resistent meaning that the amount of this vitamin is lower in a prepared pepper (cooked, baked, steamed, …) compared to a raw one! For your information I’ve compared a medium raw red pepper (160 g edible part) with a medium orange (140 g edible part). BIG LOVE @nubskitchen 💛
