No wonder why we all have messed up relationships with food and unrealistic weight loss expectations.?♀️
.
And the fact that I saw these at the grocery store this week is just BANANAS! ? Like, have we not learned anything? This rate of weight loss is rapid and not recommended. Yet… it’s what we are being told to do?
.
I’m not someone who focuses on weight. ?♀️ When I’m working with clients in @the_socieaty we focus on how we feel, not weight itself. Weight loss can be an outcome of not having food rules and developing a healthy relationship with food and body.?♀️ So can weight gain and weight maintenance. None of them is right or wrong.❤️
.
That being said, the recommended “safe” weight loss rate is 1-2 lbs per week. These magazines are showing… wellllll above that. If rapid weight loss does happen it’s likely water weight and/or muscle mass which isn’t necessarily a good or healthy thing either. Our bodies kinda like water to function properly. It’s like 60% of what our bodies are made of.
.
So let’s just take this as a friendly reminder not to hold ourselves to the diet culture messages we see plastered everywhere. ❤️
