The key to understanding portions is…
.
➡️Understanding your body.
.
What you see as a “serving size” listed on a box doesn’t determine how much you can or should eat. ❌What determines that is YOU. And that can differ from day to day. ❤️
.
While I don’t agree with following serving sizes I DO agree with working to understand your own body to follow your portion serving needs.
.
Here is what I mean ➡️ It’s important to hone into your hunger cues, think about how different portion sizes make your body feel, etc. in order to find the portions that make YOU feel your best. And knowing that those can change on the daily!
.
Portion awareness isn’t a bad thing in itself, like “Oh man! That’s a huuuuge slice of pizza!” ??? This could be information for you to consider and encourage you to stay mindful during the eating process so you can walk away at a comfortably satisfied fullness point. But that information doesn’t dictate how much you can or should eat. ?♀️
.
For the record, I also don’t believe nutrition info is a bad thing! It’s information! Maybe you see something is low in protein and think ?“In order to stay full longer maybe I’ll add a source of protein to this!” or “This seems really dense, eating a large amount might not feel good in my tummy”. It’s all just data.
.
But it can take us time to learn to view that data neturally. We need to heal from the diet culture B.S. that has gotten us to the disordered eating place we are today.
