These tempeh burgers came out so good. For those of you who don’t like the taste of tempeh, my kids said they don’t taste at all like tempeh. They loved them.
?Recipe: Gentle boil 1-8oz block 5 mins to reduce bitterness. Rinse under cold water. Use hands to crumble into mince-like pieces. Sauté 1-small onion in a little olive oil or veggie broth. Add to tempeh crumbles. Crumble 2 slices bread into small chunks into tempeh crumbles. (I used whole grain bread but most will work.) Add 3/4 tsp smoked paprika, 3/4 tsp chili powder, 3/4 tsp chipotle, 3/4 tsp garlic powder, 1-1/2 tbsp nutritional yeast, 1 tbsp gluten-free tamari or soy sauce, OPTIONAL 2 tsp olive oil. Use hands to incorporate spices into tempeh crumbles. Add 2 tbsp flour (I used whole wheat but all-purpose or gluten-free blend will work). Add salt to taste. Form into about 5-6 burgers, about 1/2-3/4 inch thick. Either: bake on lined-sheet at 375F until golden brown, flipping halfway (about 20 minutes). Or: cook in a little oil in non-stick fry pan. .
