As much as I’m anti-diet culture I gotta give it props for creativity. ?I mean, adding a tiny word that means nothing like “clean” to the packaging and then marking it up like 45849584359% and having so many customers run to purchase it? Ya sneaky, creative little snake, you!

Take this post as your friendly reminder to look past these words when you see them on packaging:

⭐️”detoxifying”
⭐️”healthy”
⭐️”guilt free”

My opinion on products that have these labels? ?The labels themselves are dumb. ?But as an intuitive eater I allow MYSELF to make the choice about whether or not I want to purchase a food. In my opinion just because something says “guilt free” doesn’t mean you can’t buy it.? If you make that into a food rule for yourself that you can’t you’re still kinda letting diet culture dictate your choices, huh?

Instead of looking at the buzzwords on the foods you buy, look at the foods themselves.? Which bread seems more satisfying to you? Which snack bar might keep you full the longest? What flavor and texture of yogurt do you enjoy most?

It’s time to look past the ⚡️buzz words⚡️ on the label and make your own food choices…not let diet culture make them for you. When you do this your wallet is probably also going to thank you ?

It’s not that what’s in your food doesn’t matter, it’s just that the labels don’t dictate your food choices. I teach something called “gentle nutrition” which allows you to yes, care about nutrition, but also have no food rules. Which is pretty freakin’ fab!
