Is Counting Your Macros Necessary?

Should you count your MACROS?

Hope this answers your question @nesspie ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Counting ‘macro-nutrients’ has been promoted as a strategy for healthy eating and/or weight loss. To do this, your daily amount of ‘macro’ nutrients (fat, protein and carbohydrate) are calculated based on your calorie requirements
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While this approach may promote a balanced intake (if your basis is nourishing foods), and thankfully does not eliminate whole food groups, it is one of the best ways to unnecessarily over complicate healthy eating. You’ll spend way longer than necessary thinking, planning and worrying about your meals and snacks
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While counting macros strictly may be helpful in some unique situations (I.e. For professional body builders), I would not recommend it routinely. The key thing for weight loss is to BURN MORE calories than you EAT!

If you make half your meals veg, and include moderate portions of wholegrains, dairy, lean protein and fruit at meals and snacks then you’ll probably reach the same result with out the effort. Of course if you find this method works for you and it is not all-consuming then that is ok too ??
