Is the sugar is FLOWIN’ in your house this time of year?! ???
.
My house is currently overflowing with peanut brittle (my fave thing to make! ?) The old, food rules me would have been aNxIoUs as heck over this?… waaaanting to eat it but worried I would “lose control”. ?♀️Worried I wouldn’t be able to stop. Worried what the calorie total of the day would be when I logged it into MyFitnessPal.
.
All of that anxiety is NOT great for our health. ?♀️ It cost me years of making actual memories *tear* and I was actually CAUSING that “out of control” feeling because I was restricting it. The feeling of “addiction” in regards to sugar is not the same as a drug. It’s pleasurable, yes, and can release dopamine (neurotransmitter relating to pleasure) but does reading a good book?, opening a gift you realllllly wanted ? or petting a cute puppy decked out in a holiday themed bandana ?. (For all you needing more science search “obsessed with food” on my blog linked in bio for my post titled ?The Real Reason You’re Obsessed With Food)
.
Yes, when you first stop restricting you will likely want to eat those foods more often but it does level off if you’re doing true intuitive eating and also listening to your body as to what feels good and what doesn’t. (this is what you learn in @the_socieaty ❤️)
.
In order to stop feeling out of control around sugar ya gotta get rid of your food rules.?BYE! And whether you restrict sugar or you’re saying “but I let myself eat the cookies and I STILL over eat!” ya got food rules. They’re just sneaky.

Link in bio to take the quiz to find out what sneaky (or not so sneaky) food rule is ruling your life. Ya gotta know it to move past it!
