If you’ve been munching constantly on harvest snaps then you’re not alone. I will admit these morsels are certainly tasty.

Unfortunately, handful for handful the calories and fat aren’t too different to potato chips. When I first tried these I didn’t expect the peas to be reconstituted, which seems naive in hindsight but they are quite processed!

The market spins they take are:
– Less fat (compared to regular potato chips). While the fat is slightly less in the harvest snaps, 1g is neither here nor there across a full day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
– Less than 100 calories per serve. This really doesn’t mean a lot- the companies set the serve size so they can adjust the size so that the calories fit with their marketing claims.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
– Baked not fried. This also doesn’t mean a lot, it is the amount of different ingredients that are added to the product that affect the overall nutritional composition instead of the cooking method.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
– Less sodium (compared to regular potato chips). This one is a reasonable claim- they have less than half the amount of sodium compared to potato chips.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Overall these aren’t really a nutritious option so while it’s ok to have them sometimes, try to stick with more nourishing snack options.
