I’ve seen a few of these posts floating around #insta and while yes- usually males calorie requirements are slightly higher than females when comparing 2 individuals of the same age and weight there are MANY factors that play a role in how many calories someone needs including:
• Age
• Gender
• Weight
• Muscle mass
• Activity level
• Medical conditions
• Pregnancy/lactation
• Genetics
• Weight goals (increase, decrease, maintenance)
• There is even emerging evidence that our gut microbiota can play a role in our weight and energy requirements.

So unfortunately it is not as simple as ‘he needs this’ and ‘she needs that’ when it comes to calorie requirements. It really depends on the individual.
