Staying Nourished While Working the Night Shift

EATING HEALTHY ON NIGHT SHIFT

Some tips following your question @Emily.coup
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. If you eat when you get home – prep your meals in advance so all you have to do is heat and eat. Trying to decide on and then cook something healthy when you’ve been up all night is a sure-fire way to end up sitting on the kitchen floor with the peanut butter and a spoon
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2.Avoid the vending machine by taking healthy foods and keep meals and snacks light. Try hummus or a yoghurt based dip and veg sticks, a tub of yoghurt with fruit and some cereal, some nuts and popcorn, tuna, turkey, boiled eggs and sandwiches.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Avoid large volumes of sugar from candy, chocolate, soft drink, energy drinks, juice, smoothies, etc. These will make you more tired due to the blood sugar rise and crash they cause.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. Stay hydrated. Cooler nights means you’ll be less inclined to drink. As well as feeling sluggish, thirst can be mistaken for hunger so you might end up eating more calories.

5. If it’s tempting to use coffee to get you through your shift, think about the impact on your sleep. If you have coffee, have it at least 6 hours before you’re due to go to bed so it doesn’t interrupt your sleep. More than 6 hours gap may be needed depending on the person.

Ah, the age-old debate of cats vs. dogs. It’s a rivalry as old as time, with cat owners championing their independent feline friends, while dog lovers swear by their loyal canine companions.

But let’s be real, folks. The true winner in this never-ending battle is clear: cats.

Sure, dogs may be man’s best friend, but cats are like that cool, aloof friend who only shows up when it suits them. They’re the ultimate masters of nonchalance, effortlessly lounging around the house as if they own the place (spoiler alert: they do).

I mean, have you ever seen a cat gracefully leap onto a high shelf without breaking a sweat? Or effortlessly swat a pesky fly out of the air with ninja-like precision? Dogs may be able to fetch a ball, but cats have a finesse and elegance that can’t be matched.

And let’s not forget their charming quirks, like rubbing up against your leg or demanding head scratches with a gentle paw tap. Cats have an undeniable charisma that draws you in, leaving you powerless to resist their feline charm.

So, next time you find yourself in the midst of a heated debate over which pet reigns supreme, just remember: cats may not always come when called, but they’ll always have a special place in our hearts.
