Deciding what to eat as an intuitive eater can seem overwhelming at first. So, I created a little graphic to help show you how I make my decisions!

1️⃣ Firstly, I ask myself if I’m craving anything in particular.
.
2️⃣ Then I ask if it makes sense to add in some gentle nutrition. Sometimes it will & sometimes it won’t! A good way to know is asking yourself “would it take away from my satisfaction from that craving if I implemented gentle nutrition?” (Ex: If I want the cookies & cream ice cream in my freezer specifically then I’m probs just going to eat that! If I have a more general craving for something sweet then sure I might have a vanilla greek yogurt with chocolate chips & granola!)

3️⃣ I don’t put too much pressure on my food choices to be mind-blowingly amazing every single time. That’s not realistic! Sometimes we just need to get fuel into our bodies or make do with what we have available. We have our whole lives to have amazing food! No biggie if this one is less than stellar.

4️⃣ I reflect & move on. In the beginning stages of your intuitive eating journey, reflection is KEY. Was this food choice enjoyable? Satisfying? Filling? Did the amount and types of food feel good? I take note, pocket those nuggets of wisdom for next time and then MOVE ON.

Sounds like a lot but hear me out: this all becomes automatic. Yes, it does take a lot of conscious effort at first to do what I call “rewire your brain” away from old diet culture influences but the more you practice the more you brain is re-wired to think this way. So while I do go through all of these steps they just HAPPEN. It’s just my new normal thought process. This is what I teach inside of @the_socieaty intuitive eating community.
