This is still a diet & here is why ?
.
➡️ Seeing a food as “bad” (and, yes, this includes setting limits around how often you eat it) is going to make you want to eat that food more and when you do eat it you’re gonna want to eat more of it because, well, you can! This is your chance!
.
?? One study showed that dieters (those who would deem a milkshake “bad” or say that can only have so much) drank more of a milkshake VS non-dieters in the same setting. Some people call this the “what the hell” effect. Like well crap I’m eating this “bad” thing, like a milkshake (it;s not bad BTW but that’s what diet culture wants you to believe) so what the hell, might as well get it while I can! ?♀️
.
When you intentionally TRY to hit an 80/20 split it backfires.
.
Here is how to get the “balance” without trying (doesn’t that sound, like, way easier?)
????
.
Get rid of your food rules. ?
.
I know it sounds backwards but when you live with no food rules and tune into your body (and also your mind!?) you’re more drawn to foods that make you feel good and give your body nourishment for the most part VS foods that don’t feel great or provide a nutrient punch. YET, you still have freedom to enjoy making a banana cream pie on a whim with your s/o and enjoying every bite without guilt and in amounts that feel good to your body.?
