✨The right way to eat a plant-based diet is the way that makes you feel and look your best, and feel confident in your own skin?

I am happiest when I’m eating lots of grains, beans and greens. I always feel satisfied after my meals, and I usually don’t crave anything unless it is my time of the month. I am a volume eater – I love to eat large meals. That typically means that my stomach is bloated throughout the day (not painful bloat, just a regular food baby), but it is content. In the morning, I can see the abs I’ve worked hard for ?, but that’s the only time they’re visible.

I know a lot of people complain about always feeling tired when eating a plant-based diet or about gaining too much weight because they’re eating a lot of carbs. If you often feel tired, it may be that you’re not eating enough complex carbohydrates (potatoes, rice, legumes etc.) or that you have a vitamin or mineral deficiency. If you increase the number of complex carbohydrates in your diet and you don’t notice a difference in your energy levels, it may be time to head to your physician to see if anything else is going on.

If you seem to be gaining too much weight, check your diet. For weight loss, you need to eat fewer calories than you burn. You can lose weight whether you choose to eat a high-carb plant-based diet or whether you choose to eat a high-fat plant-based one. The simple rule is that you can’t do both, you have to pick one – high-carb or high-fat. If you choose the high-carb route, keep your avocado, nuts, seed, soy products (tofu, tempeh etc.) consumption to a minimum and eat to satiety on grains, potatoes, legumes and veggies. If you choose the high-fat path, keep your starchy vegetables, grains (and perhaps legumes) consumption to a minimum and fill up on avocados, nuts, seeds, tofu, tempeh and non-starchy vegetables.
