I am convinced that there is nothing quite like walking into a bagel shop and taking a big ol’ wiff of the carb-y goodness. 😍 Am I right?! While I love the smell now, 3 years ago it would have sent a wave of anxiety up my spine. 😬I had this fear that even just one bite would make me balloon up and gain a ton of weight. 🎈Plus, they were SO FREAKING DELICIOUS I was sure I wouldn’t be able to eat an “appropriate” portion size and wind up binge eating. 😔So, to prevent this I thought I had to just never eat carbs or limit them as much as possible, like scooping out the middle of a bagel. 🙈Which, guys? Let’s be real is totally the best part.
I remember being at a conference and seeing other ladies just grab a bagel, slather on some cream cheese, and happily eat it with their coffee. 😳”HOW are they doing that?!” I thought. And….why couldn’t I? 🤔I watched these women eating their bagels and, feeling motivated by them, decided that I COULD do it too. I grabbed myself a blueberry bagel, spread some cream cheese (nervously) and took a bite. “Holy sh*t that’s good” I thought. I allowed myself to truly enjoy the bagel and, to my surprise, by doing that I did NOT feel the urge to binge 🙌🏻 Having a positive role model to motivate, support, and encourage a healthy relationship with food is SO key ❤️ .
