Self-talk matters! So much. When it comes to eating with no food rules and becoming an intuitive eater the mindset and the mental work is absolutely key.

After being influenced by diet culture for so long we’ve learned to tell ourselves certain stories about food- like we shouldn’t have certain things, we can only have limited amounts, we need to feel guilt over anything not “clean”, etc. We need to unlearn those false truths. To do this you literally need to rewire your brain and teach it a new way to think about food. And you do that through self-talk!

Many people skip over the mindset work or leave it to being an after thought while the “fun” part of eating the cookies, cakes, pizza, etc. takes sole priority. I actually teach my clients to start the mindset work BEFORE ever changing anything with the way that they eat.
