One of the first things I tell people to do who are trying to lose weight is to ditch liquid calories.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Liquid calories generally don’t provide anything nourishing for your body, will not fill you up and the carbohydrate load from all of the added sugar is actually likely to leave you feeling MORE hungry. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Overall they make it easier for you to tip the calorie balance against unfavourably if you’re trying to lose weight.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While juices do give some vitamin C- your requirements are EASILY met by eating fruit and veg. 1 kiwi fruit ? gets you your full daily requirements for example.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While flavoured milk does contain protein and calcium, the calorie load and high added sugar mean they are not a great choice. The added sugar in some flavoured milks is more than the max daily added sugar intake recommended by @who. The recommendation is 6 teaspoons per day) MAX.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Switch these out for:
• Water
• Fruit infused water (that you make yourself)
• Sparkling water
• Tea without sugar
• Coffee without sugar
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Diet soft drinks can be an option occasionally but I don’t love them. They have been shown to mess with your gut bacteria and high intakes (2 or more per day) have recently been linked to Higher risk of stroke. They also train our palate to have a sweet preference which can make other calorie filled sweet treats harder to resist! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
