A few extra points on GI:
• Whilst I have focused on low GI foods in the snack suggestions above, this does not mean that you cannot include high GI goods.
• Consider the GI of a snack or meal as a whole. Fat, protein or low GI foods added to meals will lower the GI of the overall meal, even if it contains high GI foods.
• It’s also fine to have high GI foods as they are. Some are actually very nourishing (ie. watermelon!)
• Just because a food has a low GI, that does not mean it is healthy. For example, many potato chips and chocolates are low GI.

* While I have included nuts and eggs- they contain very little carbohydrate at all.
