Here is the deal ? eating carrots and mustard if you genuinely like it.. Sure, go for it. BUT… it’s important to note that this is a very common disordered eating “trick” to save calories from other dips like hummus or ranch. Take a second to ask yourself WHY you’re eating this snack.
.
There shouldn’t be guilt, stress or anxiety around eating carrots with hummus or ranch. ?‍♀️ Actually? From a registered dietitian and gentle nutrition standpoint having the hummus or ranch could be a V good decision. Not only will it help to keep you feeling full longer because you’re adding some protein and/or fat in there but our bodies actually need fat to absorb some of the nutrients in those carrots. ? Eating a super low fat diet? No bueno.
.
Take this as a friendly little reminder to not take every piece of advice you see on TikTok (or any social platforms) as truth or a good idea. ? If you’re eating the carrots and mustard as a food rule to “avoid” other dips and keep your calorie intake as low as possible then that’s a food rule that needs breaking.
.
Not sure if you have food rules or preferences for trendy “healthy” food? Take the quiz linked in my bio which will tell you if you have food rules or if you’re just “eating healthy”! It’s SUPER important to be aware of this!
