Understand the Omega in You
KNOW YOUR OMEGAS!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Omega-3 fats have benefits for heart, brain, mood, ageing, eyes and inflammation
Omega’s come in 3 different forms
✔️ALA is the simplest form found in flaxseed, chia, walnuts, canola oil, flaxseed oil and soy bean oil
✔️EPA and DHA are long chain found in cod liver oil, fish oils, fish and other seafood
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The long chain versions (EPA and DHA) are the ones we need most and although ALA is converted to DHA in our bodies – it is not very efficient. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Aim for 2-3 serves of oily fish per week to get the right amount?? Richest sources of Omega-3s include Atlantic salmon (canned and farmed), Sardines, Baramundi, sword fish and trout
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Canned tuna, oysters, mussels, eggs, trevalla, perch, bass, John dory, snapper are not as rich but still good sources ???
